Job Purpose: The Business Product Owner – International is responsible for managing and maximizing the value of consumer-facing products and features. This role focuses on driving innovation, ensuring the end-consumers’ needs are at the forefront, and leading the development of products through well-defined requirements and effective stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Vision:
- Lead a scrum squad as the Business Product Owner, providing vision and direction to both the product squad and stakeholders.
- Define and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities.
- Product Management:
- Create, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, including user stories, epics, and themes, ensuring alignment with product strategy and maximum value delivery.
- Facilitate the creation and refinement of user stories and maintain an adequate backlog of tasks for the squad.
- Stakeholder and Team Collaboration:
- Liaise extensively with business stakeholders and executives to map business requirements to definable products.
- Collaborate closely with the Technical Product Owner (TPO) and Development Teams to manage the implementation efficiently.
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Plan and prioritize product feature development and backlog to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
- Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of user stories, ensuring continuous progress and adaptation.
- Innovation and Improvement:
- Keep abreast of Agile/Scrum best practices and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the product squad.
- Assess product value, develop business cases, and prioritize work based on ROI and business value.
- Administration and Support:
- Assist the lead Business stakeholder with business processes and administrative tasks related to the product.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Qualifications:
- Any related tertiary qualification.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification or similar Product Owner certification.
- Experience:
- Previous working experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role.
- Experience with squad practices is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of core web technologies and understanding of the software development ecosystem.
