Business Intelligence Developer

Business Intelligence Developer position available. The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will design, develop, and deploy reporting and analytical solutions to support business decisions by processing and converting data into actionable insights. You will deliver these insights in report form, utilizing the Capitec reporting and analytical tools of choice.

What You Will Do

• Design and Development:
  • Design and implement BI solutions that drive clear business decisions and benefits.
  • Develop and deploy reporting and analytical tools to meet business needs.
  • Utilize Capitec’s reporting and analytical tools to deliver actionable insights.
• Data Analysis:
  • Process and convert data into actionable insights using BI tools.
  • Conduct data analysis, including database structure design and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) principles.
  • Work with visualisation tools (with at least 2 years’ experience in Power BI, including DAX and M).
• Project Management:
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion, including planning, scoping, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Apply Agile frameworks and methodologies in project management.
• Technical Skills:
  • Use SQL (Postgres, MySQL, MS SQL) for data cleaning, enrichment, transformation, mapping, aggregation, and normalization.
  • Implement BI solutions using a range of visualization tools and reporting technologies.

Education

• Minimum: A relevant degree in Statistics or Finance
• Ideal or Preferred: Certification in AWS Practitioner

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience:
  • At least 4 years’ experience in implementing BI solutions that lead to clear business decisions.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in data analysis and understanding database structure design and ETL principles.
  • At least 4 years’ experience working with visualisation tools, including 2 years on Power BI (DAX, M).
  • At least 4 years’ experience in SQL, including data cleaning, enriching, transforming, and normalization.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, including planning, scoping, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Experience working with product development life cycles and Agile frameworks.
• Knowledge:
  • Overall good understanding and application of BI and Data Warehousing best practices.
  • Knowledge of Python, R, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Expertise in BI development, including reports, dashboards, and data visualization.
  • Extensive knowledge of BI/reporting and analytical tools, and BI environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of data analysis methodologies (Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, Prescriptive).
  • Understanding of both waterfall and Agile development approaches.
  • Knowledge of SQL query languages and relevant technologies (AWS services, MS technologies).
• Ideal Knowledge:
  • Extensive knowledge of Power BI services, including Advanced AI, ML, and Cognitive services within the Power Platform.
  • Working knowledge of the AWS ecosystem and services.
  • Experience with BI/report development in a financial/banking environment.
