we are looking for a talented Back-end Software Engineer to join our cross-functional team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building solutions that offer optimal performance, reliability, and scalability for our applications. You will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining server-side components that power our application’s functionality.

Purpose Statement

The Back-end Software Engineer is integral to our team, focusing on the design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of software systems and applications. You will be responsible for writing and testing code for server-side components, ensuring that solutions meet performance, reliability, and scalability standards.

What You Will Do

  • Design and Development:
    • Design, develop, and maintain server-side components and back-end systems.
    • Write and test code to ensure the functionality, performance, and reliability of applications.
  • Technical Implementation:
    • Apply advanced knowledge of IT systems development processes (SDLC) and application development.
    • Utilize advanced programming concepts, algorithms, and data structures to solve complex problems.
    • Implement design patterns and version control practices.
  • Database and API Management:
    • Optimize database systems and queries (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
    • Design and integrate RESTful APIs to facilitate communication between front-end and back-end systems.
  • Cloud and Deployment:
    • Work with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
    • Implement microservices and event-driven architectures.
    • Deploy applications using containerization and Kubernetes.

Education

  • Minimum: Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
  • Ideal or Preferred: A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery, and implementation.
    • Experience with relevant development technologies and back-end frameworks.
  • Knowledge:
    • Advanced understanding of IT systems development processes (SDLC) and application development.
    • Expertise in advanced programming concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
    • Knowledge of design patterns, version control, and testing practices.
    • Proficiency in database systems and query optimization (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
    • Experience with RESTful API design and integration.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
    • Knowledge of advanced microservice and event-driven architectures.
    • Experience with deployment using Kubernetes and containerization.
