Safety Officer position available. Job Description: In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety among employees. Your primary objective is to minimize risks and ensure that safety protocols are followed consistently across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Development: Develop Job Risk Assessments (JRA), Work Risk Assessments and other safety documentation.
  • Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and report findings.
  • Safety Systems: Implement and maintain safety systems, standards, and procedures.
  • Audits: Perform internal and external safety audits.
  • Training: Provide safety systems training to employees.
  • Database Maintenance: Maintain the safety database and update safety audit reports.
  • Incident Management: Investigate incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and manage inquiries.
  • Safety Initiatives: Drive safety and risk management initiatives.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal requirements and prepare audit reports.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Monitor and evaluate emergency preparedness programs.
  • Compliance Checks: Verify compliance with safety systems and track corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: National Diploma or BTech in Safety Management.
  • Registration: Candidate/Professional Registration with SACPCMP.
  • Education: Grade 12 Numeracy and Literacy at NQF Level 4.
  • Certifications: COMSOC 1 and 2 or SAMTRAC; Operational Risk Management Training; First Aid Certificate.
  • Systems Knowledge: Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of relevant mining experience.
  • Legislation: Knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA).
  • Skills: Excellent management, communication (verbal and written), and analytical skills.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Driver’s Licence: Valid South African driver’s licence.
