Fitter & Turner position available. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Perform turning and machining of various components, including multistart, buttress, square, acme, metric, and imperial threads.
- Identify different types of threads and their applications in the industry.
- Machine components to standard tolerances.
- Identify and apply different types of bearings and fit them appropriately.
- Have knowledge of inline, Radicon, and Crofts gearboxes, including assembly and repair.
- Fit keys, bushes, pins, gears, sprockets, and align various types of couplings, including tyre couplings, spider couplings, gear couplings, and flange couplings.
- Complete maintenance checklists and assist with maintenance planning.
- Identify problematic machinery and report to management.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure machinery is working to required standards after repairs in conjunction with production personnel.
- Troubleshoot and perform fault finding.
- Perform basic boiler making and welding, including building small structures.
- Be prepared to travel and work at different mills, including overnight stays as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Matric / Grade 12 or N3.
- Qualified red seal artisan.
- Superb machining skills.
- At least 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Strong decision-making abilities and initiative.
- Computer literate (Word and Excel).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Basic boiler making and welding skills.
- Prepared to work overtime and standby duties when required.
- Willingness to undertake training courses to improve skills.
- Good fitting skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
