Software Engineer: Back-End position available. Purpose Statement: The Level III Software Engineer is a pivotal member of a cross-functional team, overseeing the entire software development lifecycle from concept through deployment and operation. At this level, the Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems and applications, with a focus on scalability, performance, and future requirements. This role includes guiding and supporting developers and stakeholders in scoping, progress, status, and resolution of engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Software Development:
   • Design, develop, test, deploy, and enhance complex software systems and applications.
   • Ensure solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned with future requirements.
2. Back-End Development:
   • Write and test code for server-side components that power the application’s functionality.
   • Utilize advanced programming concepts, algorithms, and data structures to build robust solutions.
3. Guidance and Support:
   • Guide and support developers and stakeholders in scoping projects, tracking progress, and resolving engineering issues.
   • Mentor junior developers and provide expert advice on technical matters.
4. System Optimization:
   • Optimize database systems and queries (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
   • Implement advanced microservices and event-driven architectures to enhance system performance.
5. Deployment and Cloud Services:
   • Deploy applications using Kubernetes and containerization techniques.
   • Leverage cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure) for optimal performance.

Education and Experience:

• Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 years’ proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery, and implementation with relevant technologies/languages.
  • Extensive experience with back-end frameworks and technologies.
• Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational.
  • Ideal or Preferred: Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology.
• Knowledge:
  • Expertise in:
    • IT systems development processes (SDLC)
    • Application development and advanced programming concepts
    • Design Patterns and Version Control
    • Testing practices and database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL)
    • RESTful API design and integration
    • Cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
    • Advanced Microservice and event-driven architectures
    • Deployment using Kubernetes and containerization
