Role Overview: Join our dynamic Structures team and embark on a career journey within our Cape Town office. As a Junior Structural Engineer, you’ll be involved in innovative projects, from Industrial Steel Structures to Reinforced Concrete Commercial Structures. You’ll work alongside a talented team of engineers and BIM modelers in a stimulating environment, leveraging modern BIM workflows and contributing to exciting new developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Structural Engineering Design:
    • Deliver structural engineering designs in a multi-disciplinary project environment.
    • Perform analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
    • Follow a modern BIM workflow for project delivery, including design and modeling in Revit.
    • Ensure all work meets ISO quality standards.
  2. Project Involvement:
    • Attend project meetings and monitor project progress on-site.
    • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  3. Health and Safety:
    • Role model standards for SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) performance and behavior.
    • Contribute to the identification of SHEQ risks and drive processes to achieve Zero Harm.
    • Embrace and promote company values to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • B.Eng./B.Sc. in Structural Engineering (required).
    • M.Eng./M.Sc. (advantageous).
  • Experience:
    • Zero to one year of experience in structural engineering, particularly in steelwork and concrete.
    • Experience in civil engineering, project management, and Revit (advantageous).
    • Multidisciplinary project experience (advantageous).
  • Professional Registration:
    • Registered as a candidate with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).

  • Project Delivery:
    • Knowledge of project delivery life cycles and associated planning processes.
    • Understanding of BIM principles and Revit as a delivery tool.

    • Keen interest in engineering design with a proactive and ownership-driven attitude.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Initiative to absorb and utilize company-specific techniques, standards, and procedures.

Technical Skills:

  • Computer Literacy:
    • Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., MS Office Suite).
    • Proficiency in design and BIM software packages (e.g., Revit, Robot, ETABS, Prokon) is advantageous.
    • Proficiency in simple programming (e.g., MS Excel) is essential.
    • Familiarity with visual programming environments (e.g., Dynamo) is advantageous.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Willingness to travel.
