Quality assurance standards are growing in the Automotive and Mining sector. Demands for achieving certification against IATF (International Automotive Task Force) 16949 and fulfilling customer specific requirements are growing. This presents a challenge for Shell and for the industry to determine how to pragmatically comply with the new requirements.
The Quality Assurance Manager at Shell is an exciting role in a growing area allowing the candidate to gain an end to end view of our customer offer from product conception through to product delivery.
Priority for the candidate will be to support Shell’s partner to achieve IATF 16949 certification having Shell South Africa as a remote function.
Improve ISO 9000 standard compliance and achieve ISO 14000 and 45000 certifications.
Embed the CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) of the major key account customers representing the automotive industry (right now assumed to be BMW, Ford and VW).
Standardization of document types and formats integrating them with the regional and global approach on process documentation and automotive core tools
Support maintenance of the plant certifications and keep up to date against the evolving IATF and CSR requirements. Cooperate to define the optimal future approach for Regional and remote functions
Candidate will be part of the Product management team and fully supported by local and regional staff

A University degree, preferable BTech in Engineering
Must be a certified IATF auditor Level 1 (Internal Audit) or Level 2 (Supplier Audit)
Experience working in an IATF certified plant or as a Consultant or Accreditation Body
Ability to work virtually with cross functional teams
Lubricant (grease and oil) quality control experience will be an added advantage
The role will have elements of being customer and external auditor facing and will have to show strong ability to negotiate with third parties including customers during audits.
The role has a strong preference to be Blendcor (Durban) based. Some travel required to Johannesburg and Europe.
