Requirements NQF level 6 qualification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering is essential. 6 Years post graduate experience of which 4 years in a maintenance environment essential. Management of the Planned Maintenance System and multidisciplinary maintenance department including budgets, asset management and financial control. Solid knowledge and application of Occupational Health and Safety act and other relevant regulatory requirements. Ability to identify and prevent technical related risks within a hospital environment. Solid knowledge of equipment, air conditioning, steam and compressed air, and electrical reticulation. Sound working knowledge of all facets associated with building maintenance. Displays sound judgement in problem-solving and understands the impact upon the work-unit. The ability to inspire, motivate and guide the team towards goal accomplishment. The ability to analyse job related data by breaking it into parts, patterns and relationships. Pursues excellence while achieving results within defined quality standards. Sets clear, measurable objectives to guide delivery of own and team’s work outputs. Manages time and activities based on effective time management principles. Proven experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Key Outputs Responsible for continuous performance and quality management of the technical and maintenance department which includes strategic people management, personnel utilisation, individual orientation and performance reviews. Responsible for building and equipment maintenance e.g. planned maintenance programme is functional, job card and call out system functional, service reports and record sheets completed. Identifies and motivates need for upgrades and improvements. Management of projects from concept to commissioning. Financial control of the capital and operational budgets and providing management reports when required. Responsible for risk identification and management on a continuous basis throughout the hospital. Ensures safe working procedures are followed and technical documents are adhered to. Management of on-site contractors e.g. declaration of conformity signed, quotes are obtained and contractors are approved within set guidelines. Maintains client service principles to ensure client expectations are met. Responsible for implementing Mediclinic policies and procedures and ensuring patient rights are maintained and behaviour exhibits a culture and service.
