Warehouse Assistant

Work-Force

Whether you are a seasoned Warehouse Assistant or stepping into the role for the first time, there is space for you in Mthatha. The team hires on merit and across communities in Eastern Cape.

What This Role Involves

The organisation is investing in its Mthatha operation, and this Warehouse Assistant position reflects that commitment. The successful candidate will work across the logistics jobs function and contribute to the wider Eastern Cape business.

Communication runs both ways. Managers across the logistics jobs team in Eastern Cape make time for one-to-ones, and people are expected to speak up early when something needs attention.

Reasonable working hours and respectful planning are part of how the role runs. The team values strong delivery, and load is balanced fairly across the logistics jobs group in Mthatha.

Quality is everyone’s job. Whether the Warehouse Assistant is processing a transaction, supporting a colleague or handling a customer query, the standard expected in Eastern Cape is consistently high and consistently fair.

Stakeholders for this position include line managers, peers across the logistics jobs team and trusted external partners. Building those relationships early makes the next twelve months in Mthatha much easier.

The Environment

Notably, the environment is operationally driven and physical at times, with shift-based work, strict safety standards and a strong focus on accuracy and on-time delivery.

Health, safety and well-being are taken seriously. Current policies and procedures are maintained, and the Mthatha site adheres to the standards expected of a responsible South African employer.

A respectful, professional environment is the standard in Eastern Cape. Bullying, harassment and unfair conduct have no place here, and managers are trained to act decisively when concerns are raised.

Importantly, the working environment is set up to give the team the focus needed for deeper work, while keeping collaboration and quick problem-solving close at hand.

What We Offer

Few roles let you see the impact of your work as quickly as this one. Every shift, project and decision in Mthatha contributes to real outcomes for clients and colleagues across the logistics jobs space in Eastern Cape.

Importantly, the company reinvests in its people: paid training, internal moves and the chance to take on bigger projects are all part of how careers in Mthatha keep progressing.

Recognition matters here. Strong performers are noticed quickly, and many promotions across the business have started in the Mthatha teams.

Benefits are clear and consistent. Beyond the package on offer, the role includes the supports you would expect from an established South African employer in Eastern Cape.

A Typical Day

Your day kicks off in the yard or at the dock, checking schedules, briefing your team and lining up the day’s priorities. You move between receiving, picking, dispatch and the WMS, keeping a close eye on accuracy and time slots. There are constant conversations — with drivers, controllers, customers and the warehouse floor — and the better you communicate, the smoother things run. By the end of the shift, the racks are tidy, the trucks are out, and the next inbound load is already on its way.

No two days look exactly the same — and that variety is part of what keeps the role engaging for the right candidate in Mthatha.

Beyond that, the Mthatha office buzzes through peak hours and settles into focused, productive lulls in between, giving you time to plan and reset before the next stretch of work.

Importantly, the rhythm rewards people who plan ahead but also pivot quickly when Eastern Cape operations throw up the unexpected.

Meet the Team

Notably, the team you will be working with is fast-paced and energetic. Things move quickly across the Mthatha office, and the people who thrive here are the ones who plan ahead, communicate openly and pick up the slack when Eastern Cape operations get busy.

Collaboration is the default working mode. Whether picking up a quick query or working through a complex project, you will find colleagues willing to lean in and help.

Equally, the team mix in Mthatha reflects a balance of experienced operators and emerging talent, with deliberate space for diverse voices and backgrounds.

Line management is hands-on without being heavy. Expect regular one-to-ones, honest feedback and the support needed to do good work consistently.

Our Commitment to Transformation

Practically speaking, the organisation is committed to transformation and equal opportunity. Hiring is on merit, and applications are actively encouraged from women, youth, people with disabilities and other historically disadvantaged groups in line with the Employment Equity plan and B-BBEE objectives.

B-BBEE compliance is more than a scorecard here. It informs how the business invests in skills development, supplier diversity and community engagement across the country.

Inclusive hiring extends through onboarding and into how teams operate every day. Respectful, fair conduct is expected from every team member in Mthatha.

Practical steps back the words. Structured EE reporting, transformation initiatives and learnership programmes give real opportunities to candidates from across Eastern Cape.

Your Future Here

This role can grow with you. Strong performers in the logistics jobs team in Mthatha have moved into senior, supervisory and specialist positions, and that journey is supported through coaching, training and exposure to bigger projects.

Training is a mix of formal courses, structured on-the-job learning and exposure to broader projects, all geared at building practical skills.

Internal mobility is encouraged. People who start in Mthatha have moved into roles in other branches, specialist functions and project teams across Eastern Cape.

Growth conversations happen at a regular cadence — not just at year-end — so the path forward stays current and realistic for every Mthatha team member.
