Business Intelligence Business Analyst position available. Purpose Statement

As a Business Data Analyst, you will gather, analyze, and understand the data and analytics requirements of business users and translate these into best practice technical solutions that align with business objectives. Your role will involve producing comprehensive business requirements specifications, leveraging domain, technical, and data knowledge while coordinating with relevant stakeholders across Capitec’s Data Estate.

Education

• Minimum:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Systems or Business Analysis.
  • Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational.
• Ideal or Preferred:
  • Certification in AWS Data Analytics Specialty or AWS Architecture.

Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum Knowledge:
  • Enterprise-level Data Warehousing.
  • Data Governance and Management.
  • Understanding of Data Protection.
  • SDLC / DevOps.
  • Conceptual Data Modelling.
  • Performing Data Queries and Analysis using foundational SQL / PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of Data Visualization concepts.
  • Software Testing and Quality Assurance (QA).
  • Databases and Database Design.
  • Cluster Computing Fundamentals (e.g., Big Data).
• Ideal Knowledge:
  • Experience with Visualization tools (e.g., Power BI with DAX, Tableau, SSRS, SSAS).
  • Knowledge of Cloud Data Estates (e.g., AWS and/or Azure).
  • Dashboard creation.
  • Business Process Tools (e.g., Visio, Draw IO).
  • Familiarity with Financial / Banking Systems, Procedures, and Business Models.
  • Relevant business domain expertise.
  • Agile Development Life Cycle.
  • Design Thinking.
  • Data Profiling.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift.
  • Coaching principles and practice.
• Experience:
  • Minimum:
    • At least 5-7 years’ experience in Information Systems, Business Intelligence, or Data Warehousing environments.
    • At least 5-7 years’ experience in drafting Business Requirement Specifications/Documents and translating requirements between business and functional stakeholders.
    • Experience in Business Analysis using techniques like conceptual models, ERD, Test Cases, Data Flows, UML Models, Data Dictionary, and Business Process Flows.
    • Providing technical coaching to junior team members and leading projects or Communities of Practice (COP).
    • Performing Data Analysis and understanding its impact on organizational frameworks and objectives.
    • Identifying and classifying Data Exposure Risk according to relevant legislation.
    • Project Management experience.
  • Ideal:
    • Business Information Business Analysis experience in a Finance / Banking environment.
    • Experience in Architecture.
